School for the Mentally Retarded

Health for One Million, ( HOM ) the official health services wing of the Diocese of Marthandam was founded by our late Bishop Lawrence Mar Ephraem in his thirst for delivering health services to poorest of this Kanyakumari District. With his rich experience in the health field, he started working among the ordinary people. Making use of the great potential of ordinary mothers, he coordinated them and attended to the needs of the people. Not ignoring the curative aspect, HOM focused its greater attention on the preventive aspect. HOM- could spread its activities even to the remote villages of this District.

The school for the mentally retarded children was the realization of this long dream, in the year 1999. Since them every year with improved results this school is running.
